I also wanted to have as a unique selling point that the baskets were hand woven and I found someone that could provide them from the local Filipino community that sold handmade handicrafts. Once that was sorted I turned my attention to the gift basket supplies that would go in the baskets, 50 were on order and they had promised to deliver them in 2 weeks.
The chocolate gift basket supplies were the easiest. We found a local wholesaler of chocolate gift basket supplies that lived locally and she promised that she always had good stocks of the gift basket supplies that we would need so as people ordered the baskets she could provide the gift basket supplies that we needed in 24 hours, quicker if we didn’t wait for delivery and picked up the gift basket supplies ourselves.
Now we just needed to find a couple of other gift basket supplies wholesalers for our other baskets and then we would be set to start selling or at least that was what I thought, John my husband didn’t wait for us to find the gift basket supplies suppliers being the optimist that he is and posted our 5 baskets online and mailed out a flyer to our 5000 strong mailing list.
We eventually found a local delicatessen for the cheese gift basket supplies, it was an amazing place with over 800 cheeses in stock permanently, I didn’t know that there were that many varieties personally. Anyway he promised that he was open 7 days a week and could provide whatever we needed and when we had an order for gift basket supplies we just needed to pop in and pick up what we needed fresh.
